Rock & Roll Happy Hour with Stone Company Store Oceanside

Five Years of Keeping O-side Stoney

July 15, 2017

It’s no secret that Oceanside has undergone a craft beer awakening over the last few years. Breweries, taprooms and gastropubs can be found up and down the coast highway from one end of town to the other. Take a stroll just west of the main drag, however, and you’ll discover a place that still feels like a well-kept secret: The Stone Company Store on Tremont Street. You may have to circle around the block once or twice before you discover this verdant little hideaway among the mix of businesses downtown, so be sure to look closely. Just behind a gate next to an unassuming public parking lot lies hidden oasis where only the freshest Stone beers flow. If you show up this weekend, you’ll find some extra rare treats to boot as the Stone Company Store Oceanside celebrates its Fifth Anniversary of keeping the local hophead contingent happy.

On tonight’s show we’ve got Store Manager Tony Davis and Store Lead Jared Keers joining us to tell us all about the weekend-long celebration. They’ll be bringing along some special Stone brews of course, so listen up as we preview some of what’s pouring. And to further liven up the evening, our resident purveyor of sweet treats Andrea of Andrea’s Truffles is bringing along some little gems to pair with our pints!

We always like a good pregame, so tonight we warmed up with a couple of cans of Copacabana IPA from Novo Brazil. Seems Ken is always looking for an excuse to stop by his neighborhood bottle shop on his way to the studio…

Stone Seedy Gose Brewed especially for Stone O-side’s 5th Anniversary by Stone Liberty Station brewer Kris Ketcham, this briney-tart refresher uses sea salt and fresh strawberries from Cyclops Farms. Paired with Andrea’s Honey Almond Salted Caramel truffle, it’s a celebration unto itself.

Stone Ghost Hammer IPA A special release for this summer, this is a refreshing wheat IPA with a surprising (for Stone!) subtle bitterness that is impossible to drink slowly. Tastes like spooky sunshine.

Imperial Braggot A beer meets mead project from Stone Liberty Station and Golden Coast Mead. Not technically a mead, as it’s only 30% Avocado honey (to get around those pesky “breweries-can’t-make-wine-and-mead-is-kinda-like-wine” laws). 10.8% and fun fun fun.

Eppig Glitz and Glam berlinerweisse Truffle made with lemon crème freche & a reduction of Eppig’s raspberry Berlinerweisse. Where does the truffle stop and the beer begin? Who cares! It’s amazing!

Stone Barrel Aged Brown Aged for three years in both red and white wine barrels and infused with Balaton cherries. A deep, deeply layered flavor festival from Stone’s Lord of the Barrels, Steve Gonzalez. Picture yourself on a boar on a river…in a big leather chair with a stogey.
