How shall we describe this lovely old school IPA?

“TREE-mendous!”

“FIR-nominal!”

“It’ll leave you PINING away for more!”

How’s that for starters? This month’s featured beer comes from the jolly folks at Abnormal Beer Company who recently joined Ken & Jeremy on Rock & Roll Happy Hour. Sure, we could have gone the traditional route and picked an imperial stout or rich malty red ale (which is exactly what we did last year and the year before—nuthin’ wrong with that!). But, considering that the canning line elves at Abnormal just packaged this beer in time for Christmas, this seemed too good to pass up. And there’s this: when you crack one open and start to pour, there is the unmistakable scent of Christmas tree wafting from your glass.

Abnormal Beer Co. Pine Bomb IPA available in four-packs seasonally

Loaded with Citra, Simcoe, Cascade and Columbus hops, this deep gold IPA is truly bursting with the yuletide aroma of pine trees. There is a firm malt backbone, a hint of sweetness, and a clean, somewhat lingering bitterness. Plus the modest (for San Diego anyway) abv of 7.2% allows you to indulge in one (or two… or…) while still managing to stay off of Santa’s naughty list.

Available on draft at The Cork and Craft in Rancho Bernardo and other fine craft beer venues. Four packs can be purchased at the Rancho Bernardo location and at quality bottle shops around San Diego. Pine Bomb is Abnormal’s seasonal IPA, so grab one while you can!
