Discovering an Elevated IPA in The Land of Enchantment

So, it turns out that Ken’s significant other has A LOT of family living out in the West Texas town of El Paso (cue the Marty Robbins). Now, it’s a long, LONG ten-hour haul between here and there, and there’s not a whole lot of entertainment to be found along the I-10. It’s encouraging to know, however, that there is some incentive for making the trip (besides family and great food awaiting, of course), and that’s snagging a couple of six packs of La Cumbre Brewing Company cold ones along the way.

La cumbre is Spanish for “the top” and this brewery is aptly named. La Cumbre Elevated IPA is sky-high good and has a gold medal from the Great American Beer Festival to back up that lofty boast. Yeah, yeah “But this is San Diego,” you say, “home of the best IPA’s on earth!” We’re not disputing that at all, folks. Rather, we’re just suggesting that seeking out a few hidden gems beyond our borders from time to timed isn’t such a bad idea. In fact, it’s a great one, and Elevated IPA is a prime example of the delicious adventure that awaits. Happy travels!
