Featured Beer: Karl Strauss Oktoberfest

Fill Your Mug and Fire Up the Brats!

September 22, 2017

Even though the mercury will rise back into the toasty 90’s next week, one couldn’t help but notice a curious and cool crispness in the air over the last few days. That of course, means fall is here. And you know what that means?  Time to put on your best pair of lederhosen and get ready for the world’s biggest party, that’s what it means! Fire up the brats, Fritz! Oktoberfest celebrations are just starting to kick into gear and there’s no better way to get into the spirit of the season than with a mug full of Märzen-style lager.

.Fortunately for those of us lucky enough to live in the environs of America’s Finest (Beer) City, we needn’t go searching hither and yon for a dusty Bavarian import. We’ve got one of the best brewers of the style right here at home. Karl Strauss Oktoberfest is true to style: malty yet crisp, with just a hint of noble hops. Made with the finest Vienna and Munich malts, it's a tasty treat that goes great with food and accordion music.

Karl is best known for his home town favorite Red Trolley Ale, a local staple since…well, before you were born (some of you, anyway). A solid, gold medal winning beer, no doubt about it. Then during the local brewery boom of the 90’s, So Cal beer geeks started thirsting for hoppier, lupulin envelope busting brews. Lucky them, as these days, the august brewery is cranking out some wonderful IPA’s and double IPA’s to beat the band. One gem that should not be overlooked is their fall seasonal release, Oktoberfest. Honestly, you’d be hard pressed to find a more authentic fest beer stylistically. Uber smooth and satisfying, this easy quaffer is medium-bodied, with a nutty and toasty malt forward character that is finishes as crisp as the October air. More pretzels, please. Prost!
