In the studio for tonight’s show, we’ve got Co-founder Frank, CEO James, and Operations Dude Chris—who is missing his D&D night just to be with us! Don’t know mead much? Well, simply put, it’s pretty much the world’s oldest fermented beverage being enjoyed universally since time immemorial. Mead is a mixture of honey, water and time and the result is indeed one BEE-you-tiful beverage. Frank says that “Each Sip is the Product of 10,000 flowers.” Like, hey, that’s so GROOVY! Check out what’s on the show’s tasting lineup. It’s the bees’ knees, baby!

Verano Rojo A sessionable dry mead made from clover honey, hibiscus and ginger. Floral and spicy. Yeah, 8.5% is considered “sessionable” amongst mead swillers. (The rest clock in at around 12+%, so sure, why not?)

Dark Side Sour Bochet At the risk of overloading yer brain with another factoid, a bochet is a mead made from caramelized honey, in this case a special honey made by bees who frequent Hawaiian wildflowers. According to Frank, caramelizing the honey prior to fermentation converts glucose and fructose into dextrose and maltose…or something.

Fafnir’s Heart A cherry Sour Bochet made with cherries and coriander.

East County Mirth in a Bottle. Aged Sage and Buckwheat honey. Made with honey by bees from East County’s own Harbison Canyon.

Savage Bois Oaked California wildflower mead. Five years old. Fermented in the bottled. Bright, full of apple and champagne flavors. Join the club and partake. Otherwise, you’ll miss out. Big time.
