Featured Beer: Second Chance Beer Co Over-The-Line Lager

Why didn't WE think of this!?

A San Diego craft beer dedicated to this only-in-San Diego (ahem) “athletic tradition?” Why has nobody done this yet? Well, finally they have, and it’s another first from our friends at Second Chance Beer Co: Over-The-Line Lager! For those San Diego transplants not familiar with the storied sport of OTL, it’s a softball-related game that originated in the 1950’s right here in America’s Finest City on the shores of Mission Bay. The concept is simple: a member of your three-person (and rather “colorfully” named) team pitches you a smashable rubber ball that you must bat “over the line” in order to get a hit. Oh, and it occasionally involves a wee bit of beer drinking. Occasionally.

Whatever your occasion is for grabbing a cold can of quaffable delight, give this new release a try. It’s a light lager that, thanks to a subtly carbonated body with just a hint of malt and hops on the palate, immediately reminds you that summer is right around the corner. And every summer on Fiesta Island OTL enthusiasts gather on Fiesta Island for the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club’s annual Over-The-Line Tournament. As if the refreshment factor weren’t enough to entice you, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of OTL Lager benefit OMBAC charities in its mission to support amateur sports and youth athletics. So there. That’s all you need to know. Now get yerself a bat and ball, and a cooler full of Second Chance OTL Lager and start swinging! Cheers!
