Remember National IPA Day? If you answered “Yes,” you probably weren’t partaking with as much gusto and Jeremy and Ken, who celebrated the occasion—after a few days of “field research”—by posting their “Top Ten IPA’s” When we made up our lists, however, we overlooked a local gem that we’ve loved ever since its debut: Bully Pulpit IPA from Council Brewing Co. As part of our Pre-San Diego Beer Week tour of the county, we recently headed East (along with morning crew Dana and Jayson) to do a Rock & Roll Happy Hour remote broadcast from Council’s tasting room in Santee. It was there that we revisited this tropical treat and were simply astonished by its delicious drinkability. In the past, however, unless you purchased a growler fill at one of Council’s locations (in either Kearny Mesa or Santee), getting this “go to to go” just wasn’t an option.

Until now, that is.

Behold! We bring you Bully Pulpit in all its packaged glory! Bully Pulpit is an incredibly well balanced, juicy but oh-so-dry-on-the-finish India Pale Ale will remind you why West Coast IPA’s created such a frenzy among beer geeks when they first entered the scene way back when. According to Brewer/Co-founder Liz Chism, this is the beer everyone on staff reaches for at the end of the day. No wonder. This artfully brewed tribute to Mosaic and Simcoe hops has a subtle malt character and clean finish that will leave you wanting more. That’s why it’s packaged in 16 oz cans. Four per pack. Get one for yourself and another for a worthy friend. Cheers!
