FM 949 Coachella Profiles: Kaleo

January 25, 2017

You should already know that FM 949 is San Diego's Alternative, and the station with the MOST chances to head to #Coachella2017, but that doesn't mean you know all the deets on all the bands. It's a huge lineup, and since we're all about education, we want to make sure you're caught up with some of the acts you can see this year, outside of the headliners. Check back for more updates, and more FM 949 Coachella Profiles for more of the bands we'll be sending you to see in 2017, AND make sure you sign up below and tune in for 13 chances every weekday to score sold out wristbands.

Primary Suspect

For a bunch of dudes from Iceland, Kaleo certainly sounds like they hail from the deep south, with lyrics, melodies, and a vibe that screams Americana. JJ Julius Son, David Antonsson, Daniel Kristjansson and Rubin Pollock made their first major public performance in 2012 at the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival and have been on the rise ever since. Their 2015 debut at SXSW had them popping up on 'Must Hear' and 'Upcoming' lists nationally and internationally, with the single Way Down We Go from their second full length album A/B reaching the top of the Billboard Alt Chart in 2016, and popping up in movies, commercials, TV shows, and video games across the globe. Hopefully you had a chance to check them out at FM 949's Indie Jam 2016 at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheatre. You know you've made it when you perform at an FM 949 show, and in a volcano in the same year. Check them out Saturday at Coachella.
