The award-winning brewpub Monkey Paw closed its doors for good Monday, Aug. 27.

The closing was a hushed affair, even Monkey Paw staff knew little more than that their work schedules didn’t seem to extend past Monday, the Union Tribune Reports.

Fans of the pub received news of the closure via email. “I regret to inform you that as of today Monkey Paw will be permanently closing its doors,” the missive read.

Monkey Paw founder Scot Blair recently sued current owner Coronado Brewing Co. for $33,534 plus interest. Scot says the money is owed from a promissory note signed by the Coronado in 2017. The lawsuit is pending.
