San Diego airport pilots new Lyft program

The new service starts mid-May.

Lyft has chosen San Diego International Airport as the pilot location for their new ride-share technology.

If you’ve ever participated in the ride-share scrabble that happens outside the San Diego International Airport terminal, you know it has its flaws. Would-be riders call a ride and then wander around a crowd of cars looking for their specific Lyft driver.

The new system will look more like a traditional taxi cue, with riders receiving a 4-digit code and waiting in line for the next available car. The driver will then punch in the code, activating the ride.

The pilot service will be available in mid-May.
