Dana & Jayson [LISTEN]: Addicted to Fortnite

Michael Jacobus from Reset Summer Camp

October 9, 2019

Addictions can take a lot of forms, and in a very digital world, it isn't a surprise that some of these obsessions can exist in technological form. This morning in News to Us, Dana shared a story about a particular pair of parents who are trying to address the very real issue of video game addiction by filing a lawsuit against the developers of the global gaming sensation Fortnite. To help continue the conversation, and to provide some really needed information on a very real cultural phenomenon, Dana & Jayson invited Michael Jacobus, the Executive Director of Reset Summer Camp, a clinical program for digital detox and life skills, to join the program. What can our listener family learn from Michael's experiences in helping families and children deal with the constant pull of digital devices and a global gaming community? What are the warning signs of a gaming addiction, and how do they differ from a healthy level of online interaction? What is the most difficult case Michael has ever dealt with in years of experience? We found out this morning on San Diego's Alternative.
