Coachella Profiles: Grouplove

January 31, 2017

You should already know that FM 949 is San Diego's Alternative, and the station with the MOST chances to head to #Coachella2017, but that doesn't mean you know all the deets on all the bands. It's a huge lineup, and since we're all about education, we want to make sure you're caught up with some of the acts you can see this year, outside of the headliners. Check back for more updates, and more FM 949 Coachella Profiles for more of the bands we'll be sending you to see in 2017, AND make sure you sign up below and tune in for 13 chances every weekday to score sold out wristbands.

Grouplove:

If there is a standard script as to how most bands form, Grouplove flipped it. After a chance meeting between vocalists Hannah Hooper and Christian Zucconi in Manhatten's Lower East Side, Hooper invited relative stranger Zucconi to an artist residency she was departing for the following week in Crete, Greece. For two kids entrenched in Manhatten's music and arts scene, it took a trip of over 5,000 miles to bring the band's ringleaders together, with the duo meeting the rest of the original lineup, including drummer Ryan Rabin and vocalist and guitarist Andrew Wessen during their time in Greece. It took a year after their chance meeting for the band to form, and since their first LA show in 2010, the band has toured the coasts with Florence and the Machine and The Joy Formidable before co-headlining their own tour with Foster the People, and hitting the festival circuit with stops at Outside Lands, Lollapalooza, and Glastonbury. They even stopped in San Diego for a special poolside FM 949 [email protected] performance in 2014. Check out some videos below, get signed up, and see Grouplove Sunday at #Coachella2017.
