Giancarlo Stanton, the right fielder from the Miami Marlins went on to absolutely destroy the derby last night. He powered 61 Home Runs out of Petco Park last night with 10 of those being over 480ft. To put that in perspective, it is roughly 1500ft from home plate at Petco to the waterfront behind the San Diego Convention Center. In total he hit over 5 miles worth of Home Runs, it is only 4.7 miles from Petco Park to our offices here in Mission Valley. The previous record was 41 Home Runs.

San Diego Padre Wil Myers made an appearance last night in the Home Run Derby as well. He knocked 10 out of the park before losing to Adam Duvall of the Cincinnati Reds. However you can still catch the Padre’s first baseman tonight on the field during the 87th All-Star Game. Myers will join the best ball players in the Majors tonight at Petco Park, as the stars from the National League take on the best of the best from the American League. Padres’ pitcher Drew Pomeranz will also be suited up with Myers on the National Team. He got the All-Star nod late last week, after throwing an impressive 7 inning shut-out against the Dodgers.

Our very own Cantore + Woods and Jacksaw were at the derby, check out their covereage:

The All-Star Game starts at 4:30 PM today.
