Schools Out, Hunger's Not Virtual Food Drive

Virtual Food Drive

Join Jack of ALT 94.9 in support of the San Diego Food Bank and their North County Food Bank chapter’s School’s Out, Hunger’s Not – COVID-19 Summer Food Drive and feed children living in poverty along with families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Right now, tens of thousands of parents with children across San Diego County have lost their jobs and are struggling to put food on the table. In May, the local unemployment rate skyrocketed to an all-time high of 30%. To compound this crisis, tens of thousands of children living in poverty rely on free school meals Monday through Friday, but when school is closed, these children stop receiving free meals and face hunger at home.

You can help children and families in need. For every $1 donated, 5 meals can be provided to a child in need.

SUMMER FOOD DRIVE – COUNTYWIDE DAY TO DONATE – THURSDAY, JULY 16 The Food Bank will host a big Day to Donate at two supermarket locations on Thursday, July 16 in partnership with  ALT 94.9!
The community will be encouraged to donate food at the “drive-thru” food drive. Donors can place food donations in their trunks and pop the trunk when they “drive-thru” so volunteers can take out the food drive donations, or they can purchase food items in the store to donate in the Food Bank’s red food drive barrels.
